Bugambilia

Presented at Zona Maco 2019, this stainless steel sculpture captures the delicate yet resilient essence of the bougainvillaea, a cherished three-petal Mexican flower steeped in Prehispanic medicinal tradition.

Inspired by the geometric principles of the octahedron, each modular piece of Bugambilias unveils this figure’s inherent versatility. It can function as a captivating centre table when three of them are arranged horizontally or ascend vertically, forming a majestic and stable sculptural tower.

With three support points on each side, the weight is evenly distributed across the steel edges, granting remarkable strength to each Bugambilias piece, capable of bearing substantial loads.

Uncover the mesmerising fusion of artistry, functionality, and structural ingenuity in Bugambilias—a statement of enduring strength and elegance.
